Dear Colleagues,
We are going to hold our 26th National Cardiology Congress, with international
lectures and abstracts, on October 21-24, 2010 at the Congress Center of Haliç,
the only metropolis of the world established on two continents and the European
Capital of Culture 2010. Besides being an international event since 2008 with
ever-increasing numbers of international abstracts submitted and international
participation; two significant international meetings that will be held in
parallel to our Congress at the same time and place also accentuate its
international aspect: “Global Interventional Summit-GIS” to be held together
with Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions–SCAI and the 7th
Turkic World Cardiology Congress where several lecturers from full member
countries and observing member countries will meet together with the
participants sending abstracts.
There were 4047 attendees in our 25th Congress last year and we expect this
figure to reach up to 5000 this year. Our Congress has been accredited by EBAC
since 2006.
This year we are going to hold the Congress again on Friday-Saturday-Sunday in
order not to interfere with your busy schedule.
In the “Symposia”, “Pro-Con Debates” and “How-to Sessions” we will update and
discuss our recent knowledge on diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular
diseases. Besides these, we will improve our practice by the “Visual Interactive
Courses” which attracted a great interest last year and thus we increased the
number of them. For the sake of efficiency the attendance to the courses are
limited with 40 participants, on the basis of “first come-first served”
principle. Only the registered Congress attendees are invited to register online
for these courses and the participants will be given separate certificates for
the courses.
“Cardiology in Practice” sessions, focused on updated basics of cardiology
clinical practice, that we initiated in our 24th Congress drew the intensive
attention of our colleagues from other specialization fields in the 25th
Congress, too. Thus, we developed this separate line of sessions and prepared
the program together with the Society of Family Doctors in Izmir to cover the
whole clinical practice of cardiology. The greatest innovation of our Congress in
this field is initiating to accept abstracts in a new category of “Family
Medicine”; we are confident that our colleagues from this discipline will make
the best use of this opportunity.
The innovation of our previous Congress, the “OOO- Case Focused Sessions” where
we aimed to present the update cardiovascular knowledge and clinical practice in
interactive discussion format, proved to be more successful than we expected.
Thus, we will put them in further service of our participants this year, too.
There will be several celebrated international lecturers from the ESC, ACC
and the associations of the ESC in the scientific program besides the Joint
Sessions with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the Syrian
Cardiovascular Association. As our members know, we are having our joint
sessions with the Bosnia and Herzegovina, German, Hellenic and Polish Cardiac
Societies in their Congresses this year.
Our Congress will also give its traditional Best Oral and Poster Presentation
Awards to the authors of the scientific abstracts submitted to the evaluation of
the Congress reviewers. The accepted abstracts will again be published in the
Special Supplement of our official journal "TKD Arsivi / Archives of the TSC"
that is fully indexed in PubMed-Index Medicus-MEDLINE, EMBASE and
IndexCopernicus.
We would like to invite you to participate in our 26th Congress with further
international features that we meticulously organize both in scientific and
social programs and wish to meet you in Ýstanbul, the sole metropolis of two
continents for the last 27 centuries and the European Capital of Culture 2010.
Best regards.
