The targets and the formats of the sessions in our 24th Congress are summarized below. Besides these, by providing specific “learning objectives” under each topic of the program we aimed to facilitate our colleagues’ selection of the sessions best in meeting their purposes and expectations.

Symposia
These are the scientific sessions where the issues related with the cardiovascular diseases are discussed by focusing on the recent developments and literature with their reflections on clinical applications and on the future. Cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and other colleagues that are interested in these developments at the research and clinical level might participate in these sessions.

Update meetings
These are the scientific sessions where the issues related with the cardiovascular diseases are discussed by focusing on the recent developments in clinical applications and the guidelines. Cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and other colleagues that are interested in these issues at clinical level might participate in these sessions.

Cardiology in practice
These sessions are designed and organized fort he first time this year and Hall 3 is fully spared for the “Cardiology in practice” sessions. The aim is developing and updating the cardiology knowledge and skills in daily practice. These sessions are planned for our colleagues who provide First and Second Step service in cardiology. Specialists in internal medicine, familiy medicine, family doctors, general physicians, specialists in emergency medicine and the cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons who work at centers lacking interventional facilities might participate in these sessions.

How to sessions
These sessions will be held during the lunch time by two panelists and a chairperson who discuss the issues related with the cardiovascular diseases in an interactive way and provide expert opinion on these issues of daily practice. Specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, familiy medicine, family doctors, general physicians, specialists in emergency medicine and the cardiovascular surgeons who are interested in the topics at daily practice level might participate in these sessions.

Challenging cases in cardiology
These sessions will be presented in an interactive way by two panelists and a chairperson who discuss the issues related with the cardiovascular diseases by cases . Specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, cardiovascular surgeons and other colleagues who are interested in the topics at clinical and daily practice level might participate in these sessions.

Debates
These are the scientific sessions where the controversial issues related with the cardiovascular diseases are presented in the debate form. Cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and other colleagues that are interested in these issues at research and clinical level might participate in these sessions.

Complications in interventional cardiology
This is the scientific session where the complications observed in daily interventional applications are discussed by cases and practical tips are provided by the chairpersons and panelists in an interactive format. Cardiologists and other colleagues that are interested in interventional cardiology might participate in this session.

Questions answered in 2008
This scientific session comprises the results of the multicentered studies that were accomplished in the last year and their reflections on clinical practice. Cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and other colleagues that are interested in these issues at research and clinical level might participate in these sessions.

Interactive courses
Separate interactive courses on CPR (ACLS), ECG, Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology are organized for limited participation in the Congress Program. Essential and advanced techniques and updated methods will be provided by our experienced trainers and educators in an interactive form. Separate registration is required for these courses and the attendants will get separate certificates of attendance.

Oral presentations
These are the scientific sessions where the results of the latest scientific studies made in Turkey and in the world are presented. Cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and other colleagues that are interested in these issues at research and clinical level might participate in these sessions.

E-Poster
These are the electronic sessions where the results of the latest scientific studies made in Turkey and in the world are presented. Cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, specialists in internal medicine and other colleagues that are interested in these issues at research and clinical level might view these electronic posters at the computers placed in the E-poster hall.
